All beaches in the U.S. Virgin Islands are public to the high-water mark, including those fronting resort property. Only three operate as managed parks with fixed entry fees: Magens Bay, Smith Bay Park (Lindquist), and Trunk Bay. Hansen Bay on St. John is privately owned but welcomes the public on a donation basis. Beaches are grouped into NW, NE, SW, and SE quadrants relative to each island's center — Blackbeard's Castle on St. Thomas and the middle of Virgin Islands National Park on St. John.
